Description
Shakespeare’s Henry V depicts the titular English king as a complex, charismatic leader who transforms from a wild youth into a heroic king, leading his nation to victory over the French at the Battle of Agincourt during the Hundred Years’ War. The play explores the burdens of kingship, the glorification and moral compromises of war, and the tension between national pride and the human cost of conflict, ultimately portraying Henry as both a politically astute strategist and a compassionate, even ruthless, ruler.
